Recommended for grade 9/10 LDCC and 9 Applied/Academic science. The approach to the module is one of design process: a problem is presented and the learning is derived from trying to work out solutions to the problem and other sub-problems. Students work in groups to explore, investigate, and solve an authentic problem: the designing, building, and testing of a homemade speaker. Students are encouraged to use whatever prior knowledge they may have and to identify and rectify gaps in their knowledge. The many activities in this module allows students to use a variety of "intelligences". Co-operative group work, as well as individual thought, is encouraged.

Each of the four topics in this module consists of: lesson notes for the teacher; activity sheets to be photocopied and handed out to students, and kept in students' work folders; and corresponding evaluation instruments and teacher answer sheets for the activities. The module also includes a variety of assessment and evaluation tools for student and teacher use.
